THE SOUND OF NOW
…that’s how the shoegaze trio, bloom effect, define themselves. The band creates introspective, fuzz-washed landscapes through swirling reverb and delay; delivering a melancholic yet powerful hit.
Three strangers who found each other when they crossed paths in Vancouver BC's growing underground scene. Despite disparate origins, the vital combination of ethereal vocals, explosive drumming, and synth-soaked, reverb-heavy guitars gave rise to something new. Combining Spanish and English, their lyricism and influences offer a fresh take for the shoegaze movement.
Now, with their EP, portents, bloom effect reveal a surreal portrait of the world filtered through love, emotions, and deep feelings. portents, released as four individual singles from September to December 2024, culminated with the complete EP on January 3, 2025.
Developing the EP’s concept, guitarist Craig Weighman has designed intricate artworks. Each single cover features a distinct color; when the four combine, they reveal the completed image of portents itself—a visual gateway into bloom effect’s world.
portents arrived on January 3, 2025 through Shore Dive Records. Step into the ethereal orbit of bloom effect.
